Jeff Filipovits started the Filipovits Law Firm after he graduated from the Georgia State University College of Law in 2009. During law school, Jeff worked as a summer intern for Judge Jack Goger in the Fulton County Superior Court and the Fulton County Public Defender's Office, and externed for Justice Robert Benham in the Supreme Court of Georgia.
Jeff's practice is representing individuals whose civil rights have been violated by government actors. He has represented organizations including the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network and Prison Legal News, and spoken at seminars sponsored by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, the Georgia Chiropractic Association, and the Urban Fellows Program at Georgia State University. In 2011, he received the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network's Humanitarian of the Year Award. In 2013, he served as the Chairperson for the Mental Health Committee for the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In 2014, He was named the Appellate Lawyer of the Year by DODD, a group of lawyers devoted to DUI defense. He is a member of the National Lawyers Guild, the National Police Accountability Project, and the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Jeff earned his Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar performance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Before studying music, he studied Computer Science at Rochester Institute of Technology. |
